Department Head, Risk Management

The Department Head of Risk Management is responsible for the governance, monitoring and control of the Bank’s counterparty market, liquidity, credit and operational risk activities.  The Department Head of Risk Management has oversight of a team of risk analysts, responsible for assessing and reporting on the market and liquidity risk exposure of the Client.

Reports to:   Managing Director

Direct reports:  Senior Risk Analyst and Risk Analyst


  • Oversee the Bank’s overall day-to-day risk management activities, including the review of work and reports produced by staff
  • Monitor the Bank’s Market Risk i.e. Forex, Interest, Liquidity, and Interbank Credit Risk, verifying and ensuring timely production of various periodic market risk-related reports
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with stakeholders in all departments, from traders, sales staff and marketers in Front Office, to support functions in Back Office, as well as other Americas counterparts
  • Enhance daily and monthly “Middle Office” risk management functions and operations for Treasury Department
  • Conduct statistical analysis to quantify risk and answer queries on Treasury profit and loss
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Manage timely resolution of audit and regulatory issues
  • Monitor expected loss provisioning of Branch’s operations
  • Information Control Support of Canada Branch
  • Inter-office inspection coordinator
  • Stay abreast of market trends and significant longer-term trends that may have implications on the Bank


  • 10+ years of experience in Banking or the financial services sector, with at least 5 years in a Risk Management function
  • Strong subject matter expertise in market risk, liquidity risk, counterparty credit risk, funding, and capital markets
  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant discipline
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Fully proficient with MS Excel, Word, Access
  • Knowledge of VBA and Macros
  • Solid understanding of financial statement analysis including the calculation of key financial ratios
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to multi-task and manage deadlines effectively
  • Strong written and oral communication skills


The Department Head, Risk Management, may also be assigned other duties and responsibilities as determined by the Managing Director
